# SCS-1 Specifications

## Specifications for Conserv SCS-1 Sensor

Conserv's SCS-1 Smart Collection Sensor is designed specifically for collection care use cases.  It measures temperature, humidity, visible light levels, and movement. This device has a [Texas Instruments HDC2080 sensor](https://www.ti.com/product/HDC2080).

**Important (as of November 2023)**

The [SCS-3](https://support.conserv.io/knowledge/scs-3-specifications?hsLang=en) is the latest model of the Conserv Smart Collection Sensor. It is the version of the sensor you will get if you are a new customer or if you are renewing your subscription. [SCS-1](https://support.conserv.io/knowledge/scs-1-specifications) and [SCS-1 v.2](https://support.conserv.io/knowledge/scs-1-2-specifications?hsLang=en) have both been discontinued and will be phased out as subscriptions renew.

#### TL;DR Facts

- As long as you maintain an active subscription, your sensors will be replaced and recalibrated as needed - think of it as a perpetual warranty.
- We will send you brand new sensors every 3 years. This handles your recalibration issue.
- The sensor includes temperature, relative humidity, illuminance, and movement readings at above average levels of accuracy.
- The battery life is between 36-48 months

**Warning:** While the sensor may be both operational and functional at very low (freezing) temperatures, please be aware that this sensor is **not waterproof** and it has not been designed to withstand condensation. Condensation caused by taking the sensor in and out of freezing conditions may damage the internal components. If you wish to use a sensor designed for freezer conditions, we suggest you look into our cold sensor instead.
