Learn how to use Bluetooth features and firmware updates to locate misplaced Conserv Smart Collection Sensors (SCS).
Table of Contents
Applicable Sensors
These instructions apply only to Conserv SCS-3-4 and Conserv SCS-3-5 sensors (and above).
Outdoor sensors, Cold Sensors, Cryo Sensors, and Leak Detectors do not include this feature.
Before You Begin
-
The sensor must be turned on. If the sensor is off, none of these steps will work.
-
If the sensor is not within Bluetooth range, it will not appear in the Conserv Cloud Mobile App until you move closer.
- You need to have the Conserv Cloud Mobile App to try these steps. Find links to download the app for both Android and iPhone here.
Finding Sensors With Serial Numbers Below c005999
If your sensor has a serial number c005999 or below (SCS-1 and SCS-1 v.2), there is no Bluetooth feature available as these older sensors do not have Bluetooth-capable hardware inside them. You will need to search for the sensor manually.
Finding Sensors With Serial Numbers Above c006000
Option 1: Use Bluetooth to Play a Sound
-
In the Conserv Cloud Mobile App, select Connect to sensors.
-
If the missing sensor is nearby, it will appear in the list.
-
Select Connect to the sensor you are looking for and tap Play Sound.
The sensor will beep three times to help you locate it. Repeat this action until you locate the sensor.
Important
Forcing the sensor to play a sound too many times will deplete the battery. If you are close enough for the sensor to be seen by your Bluetooth range, you may still not be close enough to hear the beeps. Remain in place and ask a colleague to walk around hearing for the sound. Try to find the sensor with as few requests to play the sound as possible.
Option 2: Update Firmware to Identify the Sensor
If you have never connected the missing sensor to Bluetooth before, it may display with an unfamiliar name.
-
Connect to the sensor using Bluetooth.
-
Run a Firmware Update on it.
After the firmware update, the correct serial number will display. You can then use Option 1 to locate it with sound.
Option 3: Walk Around to Find Bluetooth Range
If the sensor does not appear in the list, you may be out of Bluetooth range from the start.
-
Walk in different directions around the area.
-
Refresh the sensor list from the Connect to sensors page by swiping down.
Once the sensor appears, you can use the previous steps to locate it.
Limitations
These strategies only work if the sensor is powered on and still within your location. If the sensor has been removed, damaged, or turned off, Bluetooth methods will not work. In that case, ask your colleagues or contractors if they have moved the sensor.
Replacements and Support
Sensors that are lost or misplaced by the customer or third-parties at the customer site are not covered by the normal Conserv warranty.
If you have lost/misplaced/damaged a Conserv sensor in your subscription, please contact the Conserv Support Team so we can begin the replacement process.
