Illuminance Sensor Accuracy

The sensors were tested against a known reference meter for accuracy measurements.

Conserv has performed testing on our SCS-3-4 and SCS-3-5 sensors to demonstrate the accuracy of light readings with the full lens package. The benchmark for these tests was a recently calibrated (within the last 6 months) Elsec 765, which was chosen for its large acceptance as a standard within the field of cultural heritage preservation. The tests were completed in a dark room to eliminate additional incident light variables.

The test setup for illuminance included an LED illuminator using the full range of visible light at a 40 cm distance and perpendicular input from the lens. Eight different Conserv sensors tested 4 different lux readings (2000, 800, 500, 300) against the Elsec 765 two times each.

SCS-3-4 (released November 2023)

Illuminance Results in comparison to an Elsec 765:  -25.22%*

* The negative value means that the Conserv sensors were reporting higher illuminance values in comparison to the Elsec765

SCS-3-5 (due to arrive summer 2024)

Illuminance Results in comparison to an Elsec 765:  0.67%*

* The positive value means that the Conserv sensors were reporting lower illuminance values in comparison to the Elsec765
