Activate the Cryo Storage Temperature Sensor (LTC2 - LT)

Setting up cryo storage sensors differs slightly from Smart Collection Sensors (SCSs). This article guides you through the process.

The Dragino LTC2-LT is a wired-probe temperature sensor that comes pre-provisioned for use with the Conserv System. To begin collecting data, all you need to do is power it on within range of a working gateway.

Before You Begin

Ensure:

  • You have a Conserv-provided LTC2-LT sensor.

  • Screw the temperature probe and antenna into the terminal block.

  • A Conserv gateway is online and within 50–100 feet of the sensor (how to set up a gateway).

Power On the Sensor

  1. Unscrew the top cover using a Phillips screwdriver.

  2. Inside the enclosure, locate the small power switch on the PCB.

  3. Gently pull the switch off the post, rotate it 180°, and press it back onto the post so the “ON” label is now aligned.

  4. Replace and secure the top cover.

The LED will blink briefly when powered on. The sensor should connect and begin reporting within 15 minutes if it is within range of a working Conserv gateway.

Verify in Conserv Cloud

After the sensor powers on:

  • Open your Conserv Cloud dashboard.

  • Look for the new sensor card under your location.

  • The sensor should appear as “Active” after the first successful reading.

If you don’t see it after 15 minutes, follow the steps in Resolve New Sensor Not Coming Online.

Mount and Monitor

Once the sensor is online:

  • Mount the enclosure securely in your space.

  • Confirm that the probe is positioned correctly to measure the target environment.

  • Check readings in Conserv Cloud to confirm expected behavior.

Troubleshooting

Symptom Cause What to Do
No LED blink on power-up Battery may be dead or not connected Open and verify battery and switch orientation
No readings in dashboard Sensor not in range or gateway offline Move sensor closer to gateway and confirm gateway is online
Still offline after 15 mins Rare activation issue Reach out to support
