S31-LB Cold Sensor Specifications

Technical details on the Dragino S31-LB outdoor (or freezer) temperature and humidity sensor.

Basic details

The Dragino S31-LB works on the same LoRaWAN network as Conserv's Smart Collection Sensors (SCS). The sensor will take a reading every 20 minutes. It is housed in an IP66 waterproof enclosure and has been designed to be placed outside.

Note: If you would like your S31-LB to take a reading every 15 minutes to match the rest of your sensors, contact Conserv support and we will change the reading interval for you.

The S31-LB measures temperature and relative humidity with a Sensirion SHT31 sensor, which is fully calibrated and temperature compensated. The SHT31 is fitted in a waterproof, anti-condensation casing on the end of a 3 meter cable, so the probe can be placed away from the main enclosure.

Note: The S31-LB is sold by the manufacturer as an outdoor sensor, but its external probe also makes it a good fit for monitoring inside freezers. Freezer walls can block the signal between a Tektelic Tundra cold sensor and your gateway. With the S31-LB, you can place the probe inside the freezer and keep the main enclosure outside, where it has a clearer connection to the gateway.

The probe measures down to -40 °C, so it is not suitable for ultra-low freezers. For ultra-low freezers, use the cryo sensor instead.

The S31-LB uses an 8500mAh Li/SOCl2 non-rechargeable battery and is designed for long-term use of up to 5 years (with 20min interval).
