Before You Begin
Important
This process only applies to Conserv Customers with Conserv SCS devices.
Leak detectors, outdoor sensors, and freezer sensors need to be added directly by the Conserv Team. If you are missing one of those devices from your dashboard, see this article.
If you are a Conserv User with third-party data loggers, use the Import feature to add your data to Conserv Cloud.
Make Sure the Sensor is On
Before you add a new sensor using the Conserv Cloud Mobile App, ensure that the sensor is activated and ready for setup:
- Pull the plastic tab from the back of the sensor to activate it.
- Listen for a beep and watch for an LED flash on the back of the sensor to confirm that it is on and operational.
The sensor must remain powered on throughout the entire setup process to ensure successful configuration and connection to your account.
It is not strictly necessary for your gateway to be online at this point, but it is strongly recommended.
You should perform these actions in a place where you have good WiFi or cellular data signal as your phone may need to use the internet to update the firmware on your sensor.
Check Country Settings
Firmware updates are region-specific. To avoid any issues with automatic firmware updates, make sure you have set the country in your Organization settings.
Add a New Sensor
Follow these steps to begin adding your new sensor to your Conserv Cloud account:
- Open the Conserv Cloud Mobile App on your device.
- Tap Setup sensor from the home screen options.
- Choose one of the following methods to identify your sensor:
- Scan QR Code: Use your phone's camera to scan the QR code located on the back of the sensor. Swipe to the left to open the camera mode.
- Manual Entry: Tap Add serial number manually and enter the sensor's serial number. Include the c. For example, c0012345.
- Wait for the provisioning sensor loading screen to appear and complete its process.
Important
Do not move your mobile device away from the sensor during the provisioning process, as this can interfere with the Bluetooth connection and cause setup failures.
Configure Sensor Settings
After the provisioning process completes, configure your sensor's settings:
- Enter a Sensor name that clearly identifies the device's purpose or location.
- Add a Description (optional) to provide additional context about the sensor's function.
- Select the Location where the sensor will be installed in your hierarchy. Don't worry if you have not set up a hierarchy yet. You can do this later (Set up a hierarchy).
- Choose the specific Space within the location for the sensor. Don't worry if you have not set up a hierarchy with Spaces yet. You can do this later (Set up a hierarchy).
- Assign a Level profile (optional) to define environmental monitoring parameters. Don't worry if you have not set up any Level profiles yet. You can do this later (Understand levels).
- Take an Image (optional) of the sensor in its installation location for future reference.
Complete the Setup Process
Finalize the sensor setup and ensure it is properly connected to your account:
- Tap Complete Setup to begin the final configuration process.
- Wait for the setup process to finish completely. Do not close the app or navigate away during this time.
- If the sensor requires a firmware update, the app will automatically download and install the latest version.
After the setup process completes successfully, your new sensor will appear in your Conserv Cloud account and begin transmitting data according to its configured settings.
Troubleshooting Common Issues
Firmware Update Failed
Firmware versions are region-specific. Check that you have set the correct country in your Organization settings. See this article for instructions.
Mobile Device Does Not See Sensor
The mobile application will need all Bluetooth pairing permissions approved. It will request general Bluetooth use permissions when it is first installed, and it will also request sensor-by-sensor individual pairing permissions. Accidental permission denials will cause connection issues with the mobile device.
- Find the general application settings to confirm Bluetooth permissions have been given
- Find specific paired sensors, forget them, and reinitiate pairing requests
- Close the app completely and re-open.
Got an Error Message
If you used the manual input for the serial number, double check that the serial number you input matches the sensor exactly.
If more than one sensor was in the camera view when you scanned the QR, try again to make sure the camera scanned only the correct device you are trying to add.
Support
If you encounter issues during the sensor setup process or if the sensor does not appear in your account after completing these steps, contact the Support Team for assistance.
When submitting your support request,
- Include the sensor's serial number (c00XXXX).
- Confirm the sensor was on, your country settings were set, and you were in an area with good internet before starting.
- Describe any error messages or unexpected behavior you experienced during setup. Screenshots and videos are useful and can speed up troubleshooting and resolution.
