You hear beeps, or maybe you don't, but what do they mean?
Please note this article only applies to Smart Conserv Sensors SCS-3 versions with serial numbers c006000 or above.
There are two main beeping patterns you will hear coming from your SCS-3 Smart Conserv sensors:
- 2 short beeps - These two short beeps indicate movement. Your sensor should emit 2 short beeps every time you shake it or move it around.
- 1 long beep - One long beep indicates your sensor has rebooted. You will hear this the first time your sensor comes online and every time you reset your sensor.
When beeping goes wrong
If your sensor stars beeping constantly, that is, making 2 short beeps every 2 seconds or so and will not stop, this means something has gone wrong with the sensor board, and the sensor will need to be replaced. This could happen if the sensor falls, or perhaps if it is exposed to more extreme conditions than it was designed for. Please open a support ticket and let us know this has been happening. If you suspect why the sensor board could have been affected, please let us know too.
If your sensor starts rebooting itself on its own, going into constant reboot cycles and doing 1 long beep every now and then all on its own, this could be an indication of the batteries failing. If this starts happening, please open a support ticket and tell us this is what has been going on. We will send you replacement batteries.
What about the LED lights from the back?
Read this other article we wrote with information on what the different light colors mean.
Need help?
If you are having issues with your sensor, and you need to open a support ticket to get us to help you out, please give us the following details so we may help troubleshoot you faster.
- Please use the support ticket form, not an email. Emails sent to specific team members sometimes get lost. You will also get a faster response if you use the form since it allows us to get specific details from you which you might forget to mention in an email.
- Tell us which light colors you have seen flashing on the device, and which actions you had taken when you saw these lights.
- If you have tried any troubleshooting yourself, please describe what you tried and what happened after that, if anything.
- Make sure to fill in the serial numbers for the devices so we know which ones are being troublesome!
