Are you swapping batteries or returning old sensors? Old batteries must be disposed of according to your local regulations.
Conserv Smart Collection Sensors use special AA Lithium Thionyl Chloride 3.6 V non-rechargeable batteries to ensure a stable power source that lasts throughout your subscription period. They are not the regular alkaline batteries that can be purchased at any department or home improvement store. As such, they have special regulations for shipping.
When Conserv ships new sensors to you, we mark the packages as hazardous goods because of the batteries, and our shipping vendor processes them according to the relevant regulations. This is why your shipments may sometimes be split into separate packages.
Since the prepaid return labels we send you to return old equipment are not marked for hazardous goods, you should not send the batteries back.
Lithium thionyl chloride batteries are considered hazardous goods. Please remove the batteries from your old Conserv sensors before you ship them back to us. The batteries should then be disposed of according to your local regulations.
